The audience file to be imported is created using Microsoft Excel.
The file name must conform to 8.3 format naming convention eg "12345678.xls". Names that are longer will need to be shortened before importing. (Note: This is a Microsoft issue. SDS allows you to attach a longer, more descriptive name during the importing process, if you desire.)
Quick Tips
In the Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, ensure that the worksheet name is “Sheet1”. Only data contained within Sheet 1 will be imported into SDS Saless.
Audience estimates and market ratings need only be entered for the demographics that you wish to use. If a demo is not required by sales, just omit it from the demos included in the spreadsheet.
Once the table has been created, press the CONTROL key and hit the END key. Ensure that this cell is the last column where data has been entered and that it is the last row where rating data has been entered. If there are blank rows or columns in the spreadsheet delete them (or cut and paste data into a new workbook and save) before attempting to import the audience table.
Always ensure that there are no blank lines in the audience table. Blank lines denote the end of the audience table to the system while importing the table.
Always ensure that the audience table name is eight characters or less. This can be extended during the importing process.
When complete, it will look something like the following:

Notes regarding Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets:
Ensure there are no extra, blank columns in the sheet by pressing CTRL + End to check the bottom right extent of the range. If there are unused blank rows or columns, then delete them and save the spreadsheet before attempting to import it.
** "Days on Air"
In your audience table, the "Days on Air" can be in any of many forms. SDS recommends that you select one of the first four forms and, for consistency, stick with it. The fifth form, "Jargon Style" is not recommended and is provided for backward compatibility only. "Jargon Style" is prone to typing errors and does not provide for all combinations of days, in all the various ways that such combinations may be expressed.
No matter which form you choose, the Days on Air will be displayed throughout the system in a user friendly style. For example if you were to use the first form example of "MTW….", it would be displayed as "M-W".
Do not worry about upper and lower case, the system ignores case.
Here are the different forms that you may use:
•"Nielsen Style": A 7 character text string representing the 7 days of week, either the first char of day if on air, otherwise a decimal point eg: "MTW…."
•"Numeris Style": A 7 character text string representing the 7 days of week, either the first char of day if on air, otherwise a hyphen eg: "MTW----"
•"SDS7CodeChar": A 7 character text string representing the 7 days of week, either the first char of day if on air, otherwise an "x"eg: "MTWxxxx"
•"SDS7CodeNum": A 7 character text string representing the 7 days of week, either the nominal position of day if on air, otherwise an "x"eg: "123xxxx"
Enter audience estimates and market ratings for the demographics that you wish to use. Only include the desired demos. If a demo is not required just leave it off the list.
